Welcome to 2026!
PS: I am fully aware that we all arrived here at the very same time. But I always thought that it would be nice to be welcomed in by someone for a change...
Now, I don’t blame you if you avoided the massive crowds that came to see the fireworks. It was horrendous and pretty cold too. But, I was asked to work on the boats this year, and I couldn’t resist. We started our trip just after eleven, did some night-seeing, and then got into formation right by Westminster Palace. My first ever New Year’s Eve in London and I got to see the fireworks from right underneath them!
So, the winter solstice has passed and of course it isn’t noticeable just yet, but the days are definitely getting longer again. Every year knowing this gives me hope. More energetic and adventurous days are coming. Not that the cold last couple of months were that bad to be honest. I managed to further my unarmed dramatic combat skills with BADC instructor Kiel O’Shea, and I also committed to improving my auditioning for camera skills with Mixing Networks and the Self Tape Gym.
Since we’re on the topic of adventure: I am also so excited to share that we’ve finished the story for our pirate spectacle. And guess what: it all makes sense, no plot-holes, no awkward resolutions or unfinished business! Do you doubt that? We’ll come back to that. Maddie and I, we love stories. I personally trained a lot in post-dramatic theatre, theatre that is more loosely woven, without a clear narrative. Each audience member has unique associations and therefore kind of sees a different show to everyone else. And I’ve come to realise, that that’s not for me. I love a clear narrative! I love characters that have goals, and have to struggle to achieve them. So that’s what we’ve written. Now if you are a plot-hole spotter, a sceptic or just curious, we would love to invite you as part of a small audience for a rehearsed reading followed by an open discussion on Sunday 18th of January. Refreshments will be provided, just send me a quick email if you would like to come along.
I’ll keep this update brief, but 2026 has just started and no one can foresee what it’ll bring. But for you, I hope it’s lots of manageable challenges, inspiring encounters, and heartwarming moments!
